She Writes

To write

is to undergo a reckoning with an imprisoned truth

through no small miracle.

And if you’re lucky enough,

you get to do it again and again and again

with each cyclical return of human emotion -

not unlike a rerun of sitcom tedium -

scooping out the dark in your heart

bit by bit,

hoping it stays gone.
